I wash the outside before detailing the inside
I start with the roof, then front hood and work my way down
why do I do the outside 1st?
I have more energy and stamina in the beginning of the washing/ cleaning phase and I can relax and sit in the car while detailing the inside after vacuuming the carpet/ upholstery
Doesn't really matter whether you clean the inside or outside of the vehicle first.
Work top to bottom ... on the outside, start with the roof, then the windows, then the hood, doors, grill, tailgate, quarterpanels, bumpers, tires.
Inside, top to bottom. If you plan to vacuum the interior roof, start there. If not, do the windshield and windows, then onto the dash and instrument panel ... vacuum or wipe the seats ... vacuum or wipe the interior door panels ... remove and clean the floormats ... vacuum the carpet and under the seats ... clean around the door-seals ... and you're done.
If you plan to use upholstery or carpet cleaner, it's best to do that separately, and allow it to dry overnight (open the windows if possible) ... then vacuum the following day.
