so i'm a sophomore in high school and understand that college is not something you should look at senior yr. so i want to tour colleges get scholarship opportunities and have opportunities that most kids have but don't take advantage of what this country has to offer. so i have a few questions
1) would it be possible to e mail colleges in illinois and set up tours or talk about going there or get to see some first hand experience around the college and see what they have to offer
2) is there a website or websites or programs that offer scholarships (full scholarships) what are the requirements for these scholarships and steps that i need to take (please include the websites or program and how much they will pay for scholarships, and also please try to give me the names of places that do most or full scholarship)

3) is there anything i can do to increase my chances of getting accepted or programs i can do over summer to get scholarships??? other than good grades and extra curriculum (i already have both)
thanks alot - yours truly Rose

Call up admissions at any college. Ask for a meet with admissions, a tour of the school and to eat in the dining hall. We got to eat with a student in my daughters major at a couple of the schools we visited.
There are very few full scholarships- don't' count on it.
You want to know about scholarships-
first you can go on any college web site to see what scholarships they offer, what amount they are for and what the requirements are for them.
doing a summer program doesn't get you a scholarship
Go to your HS counselor and ask for a list of scholarships they have.
Go to your public library and do some research. This takes time and effort.

At my daughter's school you need a 3.8 in all core subjects for full tuition. Not room and board or books. My daughter had a 3.79, got a half tuition scholarship

You can look up the admissions websites for those colleges and see what they offer for tours. You can call them and even set up an overnight visit at most (stay with a student in their dorm room and attend classes for a day). The website below has a lot of scholarships; mostly small ones, but they can add up. The schools themselves offer larger ones.
