The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has warned that proposals to introduce fixed terms for social housing tenancies may force some people with severe disabilities out of homes that have been adapted for them into inaccessible privately rented accommodation. Our figures suggest that twice as many people affected by muscular dystrophy or a related condition live in social or council housing, than renting privately. Our members tell us of difficulties finding accessible privately rented accommodation - private landlords simply do not provide enough wheelchair accessible homes...
