Convert Blu-Ray Movies to Apple TV?

I own a bunch of Blu-Ray movies and was wondering, if I were to buy a Blu-Ray drive for my computer, would I be able to convert Blu-Ray movies to my Apple TV the same way I do it with regular DVDs?
I know Apple sells HD movies, would I get the same quality?
