I've been told this can be eaten raw like Sashimi but I'm not a raw fish eater. This is a dinner for 2 I have 2 fillets. Preferably cooked on the stove or in the oven with not a big mess since I have to clean up.
Tilapia is mild and reasonably firm, so it's really adaptable. I just put salt, pepper, lemon zest, granulated garlic, and olive oil on mine and put them on the grill , turning once only, until just before they start to flake. They're overdone if you let them flake on the grill. You could adapt that to a sautee pan easily.
i would not eat tilapia raw no way
little known fact ,you no the farm raised cod?
well they keep the cod till grown
and then they release the cod
then put tilapia in the water to clean the tank
tilapia is a bottom feeder ..

Hi Unknown, I would cook them in a parcel of greaseproof paper ( and not foil if at all possible) grease your parcel add your cleaned fish and a couple of pieces of butter a grinding of black pepper and some soft herbs like parsley dill and some sliced fennel or fennel tops (fronds) if possible. If you are using fennel lay the fish on a bed of this. Squeeze over some lemon juice and grate a little lemon zest over the fish - not too much 1/2 - 1 teaspoon should do.Wrap the fish loosely in the parcel so that the steam can circulate. and bake in a medium hot oven for 12 - 15 minutes depending on the size of the fillets. Serve the fish on a hot plate still in the parcel so that when opened you get the full aroma from the parcel. Simple boiled potatoes and either asparagus if liked or broccoli to accompany. I hope this helps, all the best. Rab
