Hi... I'm really tired of my precious car breaking down from simple problems, such as the need of a new timing belt, a new starter, battery, breaks, etc. and having to pay mechanics to fix it (because it's expensive, and we all know that they love to rip females off); and that's exactly what's been happening to me for the past 7 years. No offense to you true mechanics that are actually genuine. Anyway, I have plenty of time right now and I would love to learn how to fix or at least replace simple parts on my own car (like my starter that isn't working right now and mechanics are asking for $300!) So PLEASE...men and women out there that really want to help: for a beginner (me) can you tell me how I can get a user's manual/guide book for my Honda Civic 1998? I THINK that can help me get started on what to buy and I guess I need the codes to know what's wrong with my engine or whatnot. I love my car. I want to treat it right. Thank you!!!

i would start with two documents, one on line, alldata.com and then go to a parts store and buy a haynes manual.

any parts store you can get a repair manual on most any type of car and my wife does most of her stuff really hard part about doing the most things is knowing what is bad she changes oil and does tune up and even does her own brake jobs at home and most are really easy knowing how one car works you can pretty much work it out with any other car but you can get a book on how to repair any aparts store on ebay about 35 bucks and up great to have and you will look at it many time... also if you know what your wanting to do you can find video and how tos on just about anything just by typing in like how to replace brake pads video or how to replace brake pad chevy great to see someone take charge and get it done you wil save big bucks doing it your self so lets start by typing

how to replace starter Honda Civic
how to replace starter Honda Civic video
and you get this good luck and have fun and buy your self a nice set of tools with a lifetime warranty

I bought one on ebay. Also, years ago, I bought at the book store a book on repairs for the car I owned for a period of about three years. They sell books like chevy impalas 1996-1998. Here's the Amazon.com link for your vehicle.
