Could someone please explain the distribution of Disney movies available for sale?

I can never find many. Is it because they are taken off of the market and reintroduced every 7 years? How many are introduced every year? Is there a website online that has a good selection? My daughter is 3 and it seems her childhood will be over by the time I can build up a collection.
