Cruising on a skateboard?

Hey i'm,a 13 yr old girl and i am really in to skateboarding. I practice everyday because you know practice makes perfect and what not. all i am really intrested in is cruising at the mo, so i looked on youtube a bit for a few hints and one person said cruisers will be mistaken for posers. i know i shouldnt really think about my image and what not but is what this person said true?

Also if you have any tips on where to get good trucks from that would be good, and any other tips on skateboarding,

cheers all :D

a lot of people think that cruisers are posers.
it doesn't really matter what other people think though, coz it will mostly be the non skaters that judge you anyway.
one thing you might want to think about though, is getting a long board? they're heaps of fun to cruise on and so much better and faster than normal skateboards if you want to cruise, and especially if you want to go down big hill or rougher roads, since they have bigger wheels you will never be tripped up by those stupid little stones. :P

to get better at skating, like you said practice makes perfect, and also if you have friends that skate too, go with them and you can watch them and see how they do things and also they might point out if you are doing anything wrong.
when i first started skating i learnt to do basic things myself, like ollie, nollie, pop shove-it. but then i started skating on a regular basis with my hardcore skater friends and picked up things like kick-flip, heel-flip, 180 pop shove-it pretty quick.

now i moved on to long boarding and i enjoy it more. its less technical and you can go way faster and tear down hills and try carving around corners. give it a go. :)
