deleting addresses in internet explorer?

In internet explorer, how to you delete specific addresses in the address bar without deleting the entire history? Also, why do some addresses show up in the address bar even though you didn't type them in? Can this be prevented?
 
**Yes, if you go into the history where it shows the date, you can select them there.
**They can show up if you have clicked on a link that took you there. (Also, they can get there if someone else has typed them in.)
**You probably can't have it do one and not the other, but you should be able to disable the history completely.
 
go below the url bar and click on "tools" then internet options, from there you can choose what to delete.
