Did he actually like me, shall i speak to him first as we argued?

So, on the weekend, this boy told me how he missed me and really liked me. In the past, he told my friends he really liked me, but started talking a lot less. When he told me on this, i used a quote from his friend matt who is a self confessed ladies man - "i say nice things to girls to make them happy". He said this was really harsh, and i went on to say i always see him flirting with other girls. He got stressed out and said "lets just leave it if you are going to insinuate i am playing with you". So he hasn't spoken to me since and i know realized i liked him. I was going to make the effort and say hi, but on his facebook wall i saw the girl i thought he liked comment "Ha." not long after our argument, and i have a feeling this is about me so feel stupid in doing so, as if they are both mocking me. Did i act wrongly, shall i talk first, wait for him to come to me or just move on?
