So I'm 14 and I've been riding since I was 3 and i want to be a trainer and I'm good I know I'm good (that sounds really weird but take my word for it) because my trainer always asks me to work on horses that have these problems that need fixed and I always get them fixed. And when someones horse is miss-behaving they always tell me to get on. I give lessons I help run the barn.
Anyway, this isnt a look-how-awesome-I-am-thing. In my discipline the way people become good and the way trainers become known is you become known early on. So I got asked by a big barn to catch ride a horse for them so they could sell it. Which this is an honor because I come from a barn were you do your own work and you dont complain about it (which i think this makes the best riders). Well everyone at my barn said i should do it and i really wanted to cause this was 'where it all starts'. So I go that Monday to ride it and the horse is ugly, not greatly trained yeah yeah, but the horses mouth was absolutely terrible, if you pulled it ran off if you didnt pull it ran off. But i decided to show it anyway, so I get to the show and get on this horse (which I know the trainer he knows i can ride well and he has seen me 'ride the hair of horses' before) and in the warm up the horse just bolts the whole time which im never scared and i handle it with circles that make him stop and so we go in the ring and she bolts again and just keeps cantering and i try to set her down to a trot but i cant so i pull her in a circle again and then she just takes off again and i dont even get through the first way and i get excused. Im am so mad at myself and disappointed but the trainer says its ok and he knew it was a tricky horse. He also said he owes me a good catch ride. But i just cant help but think i ruined my chances at being asked again and getting my name out there to other barns. Do you think i ruined my chances?
