Did the capture and rescue of Jessica Lynch create glorified rumors of what went on?

There was speculation that she was tortured and raped, and taken to a hospital where she was rescued by the Special Forces. I also heard that the mission was glorified as a super mission.
Did Lynch ever regret joining the Army? We may never know exactly what went on during that incident. All we know is that her convoy was ambushed, and she was critically injured, captured, and later rescued. There are like I said rumors that she was raped at that time, but we don't know what actually happened there. Even Jessica herself has no recollection of what went on. I think she deserves all the love and respect we can give her. I heard she became a kindergarten teacher. Did she ever protest about the war in Iraq?

What's a word opposite to glorify? Cause some people made her look really bad. Called her a coward for not fighting back, and a traitor for being alive while the other soldiers died fighting.. and a sell-out for writing a book about it.
