I'm wanting to read old Batman and Green Lantern and other DC figures but don't want to have to go all the way back to 1940 to start. Did the crisis reset their histories? Are the Post-Crisis story arcs the only arcs that get referenced from then on? If I started reading Green Lantern around the Post Crisis time, or a few years after, am I left in the dark about old relationships, fights, villains and plot twists that these comics simply assume I know? I realize that the older comics of the 60s and 70s and early 80s had some really cool story lines, but do I NEED to know those stories so I'm not confused Post Crisis? Phew ... I looked on Wikipedia and also on here for some explanations but they didn't answer these specific questions. Thanks in advanced if you can explain this convoluted retcon ;)
