...(Provide justification.)? Watching that Lakers-Heat game I don't know how one could not have the Bean on the MVP list. People act like the Lakers are the '92 Dream Team, when in reality they are a team with 1 real superstar, a few really good role players who need the superstar, and everyone else.
Without Kobe, the Lakers do not possess the mental toughness or skills to be anything more than a 6th-8th seed in the playoffs. In fact, take Kobe away, and tell me which two players combined would be capable of leading a team to the title?
I'll wait...
Just look at the lineup:
Gasol: Constantly swept out of the 1st round of the playoffs as a Grizzly, and often didn't even make the playoffs. Aside from this, he is a GREAT 2nd option.
Odom: A very talented player who is clearly most comfortable being the 2nd or even 3rd option.
Artest: He used to drink Hennessee at halftime. Next.
Bynum: A nice young player who's developing. Could be an all-star, but I wouldn't ask him to lead or carry a team at this stage.
Fisher: Great moral leader who still has a great shot.
And then there's everybody else. It's amazing how people speak of the Lakers as if they'd be just as good without Kobe, or as if Gasol, Odom, and Bynum are capable of winning endless championships as the key guys.
Of them all, KB is the only one you can build around--which is why they were all placed around him.
