Did you know the Star of David was not an original symbol of Judaism?

Nobody attributed the Star of David to Judaism before the 1800's.
 
It was always a symbol, but not the original, it was the star that was on King Davids shield. The Jews wanted to have some sort of Identity as Christians had the cross.

The Menorah (The Jewish candle) was the original symbol that sat in the high Jewish temple, but that symbol was replaced with the star of David as obviously it was more aesthetic then the Menorah
 
Actually I did know that and if you want to be technical about it, did you know that it's actually called the Seal of Solomon?
