...pointless if,...? ,...no matter what they did, they couldn't change the ultimate outcome?

Why would some being GIVE them a vision of something tragic happening if the being is either too weak to also stop Death from coming for them just days later or it could stop Death from pursuing the, but it simply chooses not to?

Or was it supposed to be God's way of telling those people that he decided to be nice enough to buy them some more time to do more things in their life before they finally die?
ALSO, I think those movies would've been more interesting, if it showed the dead people in their spirit world meeting Death and then trying to stop it from killing their other friends much like when Michael J. Fox in "The Frighteners" temporarily froze himself to death just long enough to try to stop Death, which is did for a short while and if they tried going to psychics or priests to try to stop it, don't you think?

I saw those movies just a few days ago so they're still fresh in my mind.
For a being to be powerful enough to bestow a vision on someone, you'd think they'd be powerful to also stop Death from trying to kill them, you know?
Yet, for the powerful being to siply choose not to stop death coming for them, isn't it kind of silly to give them vision in the first place? Wouldn't it just be like a cat playing with a mouse, only in this case, have a front row seat watching them frantically stay alive for it's entertainment, thus making it kind of mean, if anything?
