Differences between Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL?

I'm going to buy my twins a Nintendo DS for their birthday but I was just wondering if someone could give me a quick rundown of the differences between the four types. Also, is it one type of game cartridge that can be used between all four? They want to be able to browse the internet on it also. Thanks!
