I got directv in August 2008 with a 2 year agreement. In 2009 I moved and did their mover's service. The guy informed me that I had to upgrade my receiver to HD-DVR to continue. I did so. Now they are saying that upgrading my equipment has added another year to my contract and I will be charged $240 to cancel this month.

The only thing is, I was NEVER told this. The guy said that I had to upgrade my receiver to continue service. I asked for a copy of the contract but this is such a scam. I am sure there is nothing I can do because these crooks are too good at their scheme.

Just a pathetic, crappy service, I should have canceled it instead of moving. They lied to me when I signed up, promising some $200 new customer bonus that never arrived. Called them up and they said they had no idea what I was talking about.

Can I complain to the BBB or something? I doubt it would even matter.
Also, they said they will automatically charge my credit card in 15 days, which means I don't have time to receive and contest this so-called contract.

Call your bank NOW...Tell them you lost your credit card..They will change your account number right now,and send you a new card in a few days...The TV company can't hit your card because the numbers won't match...Now you have leverage to deal with them or tell them to go to hell...
