Back before I wrote for Kotaku I was much like many of you, trying to look busy at work while actually keeping up with all of the latest gaming news, and one of the stories I loved following was that of the EA Spouse, an anonymous angry woman who called out Electronic Arts for their treatment of employees. Erin Hoffman is of course no longer anonymous, and in the latest issue of Game Developer magazine Paul Hyman takes a look at the long-lasting effects of Hoffman's actions as a crusader against employee injustice.
The article is filled with quotes from Hoffman, illustrating how game companies have changed since the whole situation started. It's an interesting look at how one voice can change the way an entire industry works. If you come across a copy, pick it up and give it a read, and be sure to check out the Quality of Life Discussion forums over at GameWatch.org, where you can read some fairly candid accounts of employee mistreatment. Strangely addictive, but that's human misery for you. Michael Fahey
