divx players, what do you do with them?

How do i use a divx player? do i just take my external hard drive and plug it in to the player then plug the player in to my tv? will that enable me to watch the films on my hard drive through my tv? thanks

theres different types, the usual one is a dvd player that can play divx files burnt to disk, otehr than that theres usb ports on it.
