DO all blu ray have 5.1 dolby digital or is it only high definition audio?

I am wondering to spend the extra on a reciever, because what i am hearing is in order to get HD audio you need to run my PS3 throung the reciever bact to the tv. But I dont want to take a chance on loosing video quality that way. I rather run my ps3 straight to the tv and use a optical for sound.
