Do animals and insects dream?

For sure animals dream at least cats and dogs.
Insects I don't know but have a doubt of it.

I think more intelligent animals can dream... Or at least I tell myself that when my dog is sound asleep on his pillow and jumps to life barking at nothing. Scares the living P1SS out of me!

Animals-yes
Insects-I don't think they even sleep. That have a completely different set up than us.

Animals DO have much stronger senses than humans (Many do anyway). They can probably hear, or smell something in the distance which catches their attention.

I think some animals dream, because my dog whimpers in her sleep sometimes, very quietly though. But I'm not sure about insects...
