Do Homo Sapiens really come from Africa?

I heard that Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals evolved from Homo Erectus and Homo Sapiens survived because they lived in the savannas of sub-Saharan Africa while the Neanderthals had a larger brain size then us but were wipped out by the Ice-Age because they located to Europe.

Do Homo Sapiens really come from Africa?
