Do I have to go back to the gynecologist to get refill on birth control?

I ran out of my birth control so my pharmacy called my doctor and got me a re-fill but it was only for one month I think they probably want me to go back. I hate going there but maybe I will have to. I will probably have to go for a pap smear right? I know they check for cancers and things does it make a difference if I am not sexually active? Anyways I was prescribed birth control by other doctors like my dermatologist for my acne should I just get it from him? I know it's stupid that I don't want to go back but I am not sure how much it's going to cost either. I am not even sure if the last bill was paid as my dad was switching insurance and everything was confusing and my dad was supost to call them and give them the infromation and not sure if he ever did?
also for one month I went off my birth control and lost alot of weight but then I remeber how horrible my cramps were and quickly went back on. So not sure I screwed up my system or not, I basicly am only taking it for my cramps and hoping it will help my acne but doubt it will.

Usually birth control prescriptions have refills. I think you usually get refills for up to a year. Call your gynecologist and ask why they did not write you refills. There might be a reason or they might send a prescription to the pharmacy and you won't even have to go in.
