Should I include a Blu-ray burner to my next laptop?

The main reason people use a Blu-ray burner is storage. Since I have a 1TB external hard drive, I don't need it for storage.

So are there any other things for which I would need to use a Blu-ray burner?

I want to have a future proof laptop, so if you advise me to buy a Blu-ray burner in this respect, you need to convince me extra dollars that will be spent on Blu-ray burner would be a sound investment.

If you think that it will be a waste of money, due to a reason other than a Blu-ray burner can solely be used for storage purposes, then please indicate that reason as well.

I am sorry I had to shorten that question here because I thought people did not show any attention to that LONG question.

Thanks!

I have one sitting right here. What can I do with it? Return it to the store! Why? Because I buy Spindles of cheap ( that's why people have burners because they are too cheap to buy the REAL software/DVDS/Blu-Ray discs etc.) and I can only get about 1 out of 10 things copied due to It's constantly telling me to "insert a different blank disc" and the blanks they want you to use are popular in Japan but not in the U.S and cost about 75% more than standard blank DVDs. Man, people want to get things done fast and inexpensive. Not pay more money on blank DVDs than you do on food a month.
