Do I need a passport or a visa to travel to mexico?

I am a F-1 International Student living here in the US.. I was thinking of going to mexico for holidays but am not sure if i am allowed to go there.. Do i need a passport or a visa on it..as i dont have an american passport.. I do have a drivers license though with my birth date on it... Any ideas any one????
 
if you live in us have a us passort and is visting in the us then no but i mean i'm going to porta rico (don't think thats in america its in carabian but) you do i'm pretty sure never been to mexico but i think you do i would bring them wiht you though you don't want to head back home looking weird lol hapeened to me 2
