I have a 1988 Jeep Cheerokee Pioneer. inline 6 cylinder. since i've gotten it the brakes have been going to the floor. with no pressure to it at all. i stop. but it takes a while. i have an air sound coming from my booster pump. me and my dad was just messing around with it to see if it was just a bad hose, and well come to find out. i stop better when the booster pump isn't plugged in. i'm wondering if i even need it. expecually if i stop a lot better with out it. i really don't know what to do. it seems to stop a lot better than what it did. my question is what is the purpose of the brake booster pump? And what will happen if i drive without it?
