Do I need speaker terminals for my sub box?

Could I just hook up the speaker wire from the amp directly to the sub? Or would the thickness of the wire blow the sub

you can wire them directly it wont blow because of the gauge of the cable and the speaker terminals on the box are there so air wont leak trough the hole if you want to be cheap you can Connect them directly and put a t shirt or whatever you want to use and fold it and push it until it seals
