For people wanting to know know what phones will work on winds network...there is alot. Someone pointed out earlier that they use the same network as tmobile. But tmobile doesn't use the AWS network on its own and their phones are able to switch bands when needed.......I am pretty sure that with more time wind will continue to bring the best phones that work on their network after they test them.......U have to realize that with no contracts wind is not able to offer cheaper phones and with that being said do you really think they want to come out and say here are phones u can go buy cheaper and bring on our network.....sure it will work as long as the bands are the same as they use......but thats how they are making majority of their revenue cause there is no contracts. There are a couple exciting new smartphones that will work with WIND's AWS network: Nokia N900 - a super powerful, Maemo OS powered (Linux based, so it's open and supports a great developer community pumping out new apps) smartphone with touchscreen and slide out QWERTY (video: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhTtsZATwBQ"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhTtsZATwBQ[/ame]). SonyEricsson Xperia X10 - An Android powered smartphone with big touchscreen, latest in Sony's Experia series. I would be happy if I was able to use either of those phones on WIND, that'd be a great combo. However, WIND's current offering seems extremely weird and is making a bit suspicious... On one hand, there are no contracts that you need to sign with WIND. However, since you are not able to get a SIM and bring your own device, but must purchase the device, which then won't work on any other network, from WIND, you are effectively locked down to WIND because of the device! Because of this, to me it starts to feel like WIND's pulling the consumer's leg... Or at least they haven't yet fully delivered on their promise to be different from all other Canadian carriers. WIND, here's the thing: make SIMs available now, without having to buy the device from you. Give the customer a real free choice. Give info on your website on what phones work on your network and what not, to educate the average consumer. Carriers in Europe and Asia all do it; they all offer the option of buying the phone separate and just getting the SIM from a carrier. In fact, 85% of all phones in Asia are sold unlocked, and 75% in Europe. But in North America, only 5%. WIND, you made a promise to truly change things. Now show us that you can!
