Do parakeets like to be petted?

I got two parakeets a few weeks ago and would like to know if they like to be petted. I pet them daily. They run away sometimes, but recently they have sat still while I petted them. Only awhile later they jumped to another perch.

I would like to know from other parakeet owners if their parakeets like being petted.

Also, my cage is a little rusty. Is that okay? (LIKE VERY LITTLE)
