Next year as a PCV driver you will have to have taken 5 classes of instruction each lasting a day and each costing £100 each to continue to drive your chosen vehicle even though you have a current license and are fully qualified to drive that vehicle and may have been doing so for 40 years. After the 9th September 2013 if you are caught driving without a CPC (I'm not sure if you get a certificate receipt or something) you can be find £1000. I believe you will also lose your driving license which by the way now can cost over £120 just for the medical plus a lose of another days pay when you go for tests at the hospital. Not that you can use it anyway. If you drive an HGV you have until September 2014 to do the same. Some companies will not pay this so it is down to the individual driver. This also means losing a days pay for each attendance. Also if you are contracted to do school work you will need a security check to show that you are a safe and proper person to work with children. Which is a positive thing. The cost is £50. All very commendable. Sorry missed a bit. It,s £50 for each county you work in. So if you are on a boarder of say 2 or 3 counties or more that's £150. In my case £200. What with 2 different tacho systems running at present, driving time restrictions, New VOSA powers etc etc wouldn't it be better to go and stack shelf's somewhere. After all the pays the same?
