Do you hear a different dialling tone if you call someones mobile phone abroad?

If i call my friend's mobile while they are away in Spain will i here a different dialling tone?
 
Yes this is normal. Different countries have different tones, but most are based on the American tones. The UK tones are quite unique, for example a UK ring tone is always a double tone (brr-brr), but most other countries have a single tone for ringing.
 
You will, its a long beep tone, rather than a normal ringing tone..
