As Jean turned to get her luggage, she heard a familiar voice.
“Jean, stop!”
She searched the crowd, feeling a glow of happiness. There was Johnny, dressed casual in his denim pants and plain polo shirt. Running and pushing through the crowd towards her, almost tripping in his haste she didn’t know if she should turn away and continue to walk away. But Jean missed him. His laid back personality, the way he could cheer her up with just a flash of his smile. The thought of him made her glow and forget she had ever been sad. She even forgot about the shock of discovering that her grandfather hadn't died. Jean tried not to look excited, she didn’t want to seem too eager.
Jean swallowed and gripped one of her suitcase straps tighter, trying to focus on the fresh start ahead of her in California summoning all her determination as a smile curled the corners of her lips.
‘I hope he doesn’t stop me from leaving,’ she thought.
