My 1 month old baby grunts in his sleep. At night as soon as he starts grunting I nurse him so he doesn't wake up all the way. It works well to keep him wanting to sleep at night.
In the daytime I don't, though. If he is in the swing or bouncy seat and he starts grunting I usually wait. Sometimes he goes back to sleep and sometimes he opens his eyes, looks around, starts chewing on his fist, and then I will pick him up and feed him.
Does everyone else wait or do you pick your baby up right off?
