Does 1 ten inch subwoofer hit as hard 2 twelve's?

I have two 12's getting 250 Watts a piece. My question is would one strong 10 inch subwoofer taking about 500-600 Watts hit as hard as the two twelve's? Only reason I'm asking is for space reasons. If I can get the same sound while saving trunk space I would love it. I have two 12 inch JBLs and I was thinking of getting one 10 inch Fosgate T1 and save a little space if possible.
