I have severe Tourette Syndrome. I'm also one of the unlucky few who actually have the symptom of involuntary swearing, known as coprolalia. For me, it's a disabling, painful disorder that can make even walking, eating, hard to do. To me, the swearing is NOT funny. Not when I go in walmart and am afraid of getting jumped because I can't control the fact that I yell the n-word. People have even died from injuries due to the movements their tics cause. A man died from a brain injury caused by a head-banging tic. I have bruises up and down my legs from kicking myself, and I've met a man who is paralyzed on one side of his body because of his tics. Somehow, I don't find any of that funny at all. I don't find having an incurable, disabing brain disorder funny. Especially when I consider my future, as a teenager, I think about the future, like, say, wanting to get a job? Who's gonna hire somebody who swears uncontrollably? I mean, it's just so ignorant. People who think this is a joke of some sort, gosh, I just wish they could understand. What do you think?
