The amount of space available for low earth orbit is huge, yet two satellites collide. What are the chances of this happening by accident?

You know how governments sometimes do things they're not supposed to do? You don't suppose maybe it wasn't accidental?

Almost certainly this "accident" was deliberate, perhaps intended to facilitate a study of the consequences of a kinetic energy strike.

The chances of such a collision actually being an accident, are, well ... astronomical!
