Does the Nokia N95 GPS works without an Internet Connection?

This is what I know.
The GPS is free unless you want voice (that requires a plan with nokia)
You donwload the maps.
But once you have the maps, if you are going to use the maps and you don't have a data plan or wifi access, will the GPS feature work? THe maps are already downloaded. Anyone??!!
