Does the PS3 Blu-Ray player support True Dolby Digital?

I know stand alone Blu-Ray players have True Dolby decoders but does the PS3? Or does it just have standard Dolby Digital sound? If it doesn't have True Dolby, video gaming aside........why would I buy a PS3 that has only high definition video but not high definition sound?
