It definitely works to dry out the phone, but whether the phone will work or not i don't know. One time i washed my cell phone in the washing machine and then put it in rice and it dried it out pretty quickly (there was water behind the screen that dried up in i believe less than an hour when i put it in rice), but unfortunately my cell phone did not survive. I think going through the washing machine is a different story, so your phone should be fine. I would put it in a small bowl of rice and put it in the sun if the sun is out.

Sometimes, it worked for my friend but not my mom. It depends on how sensitive your phone is to water. iPhones can be killed instantly, other phones may be stronger. Leave it in for at least a day though.

I have actually used this process and if done correctly, it does work. First, right after dropping it in the water, you need to remove the battery and shake out as much water as possible. Put in a ziplock bag full of dried rice and seal and let it set for 3-5 days. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN THE PHONE ON FROM THE MINUTE YOU DROP IT IN THE WATER. If you do, your pretty much screwed. It fries it when you do. Its 50/50 if done correctly, but hey, its worth a shot!

Good luck!
