I have an 8" dobsonian that we use to look at planets, favorite stars, etc.
One day earlier this week (Feb 18, 2009 or so), we were checking out Venus and it apeared to be a crescent, like a partial moon. Wife, daughter and I all saw it.
You could see the whole planet, but much of it seemed very dark, outlined only, while the rest was very very bright. I wasnt aware that Venus did this. Is this a regular occurance? Or was I looking at something besides Venus?
