Downloading music on a p2p?

So I've pretty much tried every downloader I can find for mp3s and such, but they've all been pretty crappy. Either they won't connect at all (Limewire)... they don't download the songs wholly (Ares)... or they give me hundreds of pups. Is there any music program that is free, safe, and worth having?
