Ever since I brought my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee into the mechanic last month, I have been getting horrible mpg. Before I brought it in, I was averaging 16 mpg. Now the meter in the display says I'm getting 13.4 mpg. When I sent it to the mechanic, they replaced the air filter, the pvc valve in the right tire, the alignment was fixed, and they did an entire brake job. What could they have done to it to drastically reduce my gas mileage? thanks. The only smell that i notice when im done driving is gasoline....oh damn. But its not like im leaking gasoline anywhere. Another thing, since they have done my brakes ( I originally went in because I had a spongy pedal and they were squeaking) the brakes will be firm for a good 3 or 4 presses, but after that the pedal goes farther than normal to stop the car. Could this be because I have air in my brake lines or something?
