Dress up party (pop-music themed) ideas :)?

I don't want to get a really crazy outfit but still want people to recognise who I've come as. The host is Korean and said it would be great if we could come as Koreans but we don't HAVE to.
I love Sara Bareilles but she doesn't really have a defining outfit that I know of?
