Dvd-r not being recognized.?

I Bought 5-6 Dvd-r's a while back.Now when i put them into the drive of my laptop it doesnt recognize it. Why is this happening?

P.S:My laptop recognizes Cd-r's And Cd-rw's.But not dvd's
