Ear stretching blowout?

I was a 2 gauge for several months, and I decided to go to a zero. So, instead of dead stretching, I used bondage tape to increase my size by only about .9 mm. My right ear got infected, so I took the earring out to put on some bacitracin. I noticed that I had a raised ring of flesh around the back of my ear. I'm pretty sure it's a blowout, so I'm taking me earring out and putting in regular 18g studs. My question is, after the blowout heals, is it safe to start stretching my ears again? Would the blowout reappear, or is the healing permanent?
