My Sound System Was installed in my 2007 Tahoe back in 2007. Nothing has changed in my system at all. I replaced the Factory Battery around 2 years or 2 years and a half. I replaced it with a Optima Red Cap. Two months ago I got out of my house and got on my SUV and turn on my system volume was around 60 the max is 80. I had a song playing with high notes so my tweeters were the main attraction of that song. after 45 seconds of that song my two front tweeters were no longer playing, a few seconds later i could smell the burning of them tweeters but also a burning smell behind me (where the Eclipse amp was located under the second seat row). So I end it up dismounting both tweeters and indeed there were burned out, you could smell them. The rear tweeters are still good.
Then a few weeks later I tired to play my music at a high volume with just the two rear tweeters and my 4 door speakers, so I was with no front tweeters. The music started to cut out at a high volume. So I left my sound system like that for weeks now last week i started to dismounted my PA 5422 Eclipse amp AND test all speakers seperatly to see if i had a speaker problem or AN amp problem. So I disconected everything, tweeters, subs and i left ONE speaker of one of the four doors. and still the Eclipse amp was cutting out while my engine was turned on. So i was pissed so I ended up swapping an amplifier from my other vehicle a V12 Alpine I bought like 10 years ago. and that was cutting out also. So it was obvious that my eclipse amp was not bad, simply because I connected it to my other vehicle and in THAT vehicle it was not cutting out at all. You can say I have the same Audio power running for both vehicles just a different brand. SO in my tahoe both amps cut off at high volume and on my other vehicle ford truck their were playing well!.
on this video u will see that a song is playing and as soon as more instruments joins the song you will see the lights dim low and the music cuts out. If the song does not have alot of drums or alot going on at once it will play louder without getting cut off. Please click the link to see what i mean.
I ordered a pair of focal tweeters paid 99 bucks on crutchfield dot com.
So this is what i think it came up to:
Battery is dying and cant handle my amps. battery age is (2 years plus) Optima Red tap.
Or cables from alternator needs upgrade same for ground.
I can not think of anything else. Like I said I never had a problem before just after my tweeters burned and then weeks later I was getting this cut out problem. The amp is not the problem i think because i tested it on my ford truck and that amplifier was screaming! and even louder than the alpine v12, So yea it got HOT but it didnt cut out at all. My SUBS were disconected at all times!
Please check the video and tell me what u think.
