I am a musician wanting to branch out and learn e-music. I have my KORG 01/Wpro and a laptop where i installed Cakewalk SONAR 8.5, Guitar Rig 4, Session Drummer and Sample Tank. I just want to learn about connections among other stuffs.

I have also bought a MIDI to USB interface.

1. How do i make use of the many instruments instead of the sounds of my keyboards. I just want to use my keyboard as a controller.
2. IS it also possible to use my keyboard sequencer instead of SONAR (i am more familiar w/ it) and be able to send the finished MIDI file to my laptop?
3. What is MIDI 0 and MIDI 1? When i save a MIDI file in SONAR, what is the better format to use?
4. What about ASIO? Do i need it? The documentation clearly said it doesn't "like the built-in Roland GS Wavetable or sumthin'
5. My laptop is a dual-core 1.73Ghz... What should be my latency?
6. What other similar softwares aside from SONAR would you prefer i use, which is simpler but gets the job done as well?
