Email that pushes calendar invites to iPhone os? Like ms exchange ?

Soooo I have an iPhone and I know that with ms exchange you can say invitation to meeting and it will also leave a badge on the app and download in the background etc etc. I would like to use the features iPhone gives ms exchange and other systems as a reminder system for projects and events I have due. Can anyone tell me how to do this with gmail? Or anything else?
