engine mounts for a ford windstar?

A mechanic told me that I needed new engine mounts for my 1995 ford windstar. When I take off from a stopped position, sometimes the engine will kick. He has quoted me a price of approximately $500 for the parts and labor. Is this a fair price?
Will mounts make a difference in the driving performance?
 
id say no way but you can call auto zone ask about mount prices and do them your self just a few bolts and jack up on the motor really not that hard most of time you can also call three other shops and get their price as well id say it was high
